UNESCO organized an International Expert Consultative Meet on Preservation and Access during June 25-26, 2014 at Warsaw, Poland which was aimed at defining the Standard Setting Instrument for the protection and preservation of the digital heritage. Dr. Dinesh Katre, Associate Director & HOD, Human-Centred Design and Computing Group, C-DAC, Pune was invited as an expert and to represent India for this consultative meeting at Warsaw, Poland. The Standard Setting Instrument / Recommendations on Preservation and Access as part of the Memory of World Programme of UNESCO will be passed by the General Conference of UNESCO during 2015-16, subsequently to be adopted by the member countries to propagate digital preservation initiatives. The expert meeting was attended by 39 experts from all over the world, who were invited in their personal capacity by the UNESCO. The meeting was hosted by the Polish National Commission of UNESCO and Ministry of Culture, Government of Poland. Dr. Dinesh Katre made substantial contributions in this meeting with his experience of digital preservation and heritage computing at C-DAC.

General Conference of UNESCO at its 38th session  on 1 and 2 July 2015 unanimously adopted the Draft Recommendation concerning the Preservation of, Access to, Documentary Heritage in the Digital Era (38 C/Resolutions – Annex V).
